Sherman Police


Driving while license invalid — On Saturday, an officer spoke with five people involved in an accident that occurred in the 500 block of South Sam Rayburn Freeway. Four of the people were in a car driving on the icy road. The fifth individual was driving a second car on the icy road behind the first car. The driver of the second car slammed into the back of the first car. The officer found the driver of the second car to be intoxicated and driving while his license was suspended. All five people were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. The officer made an accident report and a report for intoxication assault with vehicle serious bodily injury and for driving while license invalid.


Found property — A man came to the Sherman Police Department Monday in reference to found property. The man turned in a Visa debit card that he found Monday in the 1000 block of North Travis Street. Police turned the debit card into the city of Sherman evidence locker pending return to the rightful owner.


Burglary of vehicle — On Wednesday, a man called police to report his truck had been burglarized while parked in the 400 block of U.S. Highway 82. Sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., an unknown suspect removed a five-gallon gas can with approximately $18 worth of gasoline inside from the bed of the man’s vehicle. Police made a report for burglary of a motor vehicle.


Criminal mischief — A man called police Wednesday to report criminal mischief. Sometime between 6 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, an unknown suspect shattered the rear windshields of the man’s cars while they were parked at his house in the 1300 block of South Montgomery Street. Police made a report for criminal mischief.


Forgery —On Wednesday, a man reported that a check was cashed at his business in the 500 block of South Walnut Street, and the check was returned to him for being fraudulent. Police made a report for forgery financial instrument.


Criminal mischief — A woman called police Wednesday to report criminal mischief. Sometime between 3 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, an unknown suspect shattered the rear passenger window of the woman’s car while it was parked in the 900 block of North Ross Avenue. Police made a report for criminal mischief.


Fraud — A resident reported Wednesday that on Nov. 26 the resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be a computer software company. During the phone call the person fraudulently obtained identifying information from the resident.


Assault — A woman called police Wednesday and reported that her daughter assaulted her Monday in the 300 block of South Heritage Parkway. Police made a report for assault causing bodily injury family violence.


Theft — An officer went to a store in the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82 in reference to a theft. Store employees said they watched a man open the packaging on some merchandise, conceal the merchandise in his pockets and leave the store without paying for it. The value of the merchandise was more than $100. The officer arrested the man for theft and then had to assist him to the police car because he was intoxicated on prescription medication. The officer then took the man to the hospital to be evaluated before transporting him to jail.


Burglary — On Wednesday, an officer went to the 3200 block of Northpoint Road in regards to a woman being choked. The victim said the father of her child entered her house without permission, choked her and then hit her. She did not have any visible injuries. The officer made a report for burglary of habitation.


Accident — An officer responded to a hit-and-run accident Wednesday in the 4700 block of Sam Rayburn Freeway. A semi-truck collided with a passenger car, causing minor damage. The passenger car left the scene without exchanging information. The officer made a crash report and an offense report.


Accident — An officer went Thursday to a car accident in the 200 block of West Heritage Parkway. A black pickup cut a corner making a left turn. The pickup’s rear, driver’s side fender and tires struck the left front grill and fender of a yellow Camaro that was at the intersection of Howe Drive. The officer made a crash report and a report for accident involving damage to vehicle.


Criminal mischief — A man called police Thursday to report criminal mischief. Sometime between 3 p.m. Monday and 4 p.m. Tuesday, an unknown suspect damaged the driver’s side, front window of the complainant’s truck while it was parked in the 1100 block of West McGee Street. The suspect used what appeared to be a BB gun to damage the window. Police made a report for criminal mischief.


Criminal mischief — On Thursday, a man called police to report criminal mischief. Sometime between noon and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, an unknown suspect used what appeared to be a BB gun to damage the driver’s side front window of his car while it was parked in the 1200 block of North Grand Avenue. Police made a report for criminal mischief.


Burglary — A man came to the Sherman Police Department Thursday to report the burglary of a truck. Sometime between 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, an unknown suspect broke into the victim’s truck while it was parked in the driveway of his house located in the 800 block of South Elm Street. Several items were missing from the car. Police made a report for burglary of motor vehicle.


Harassment — An officer spoke with a woman Thursday regarding harassment. The woman said that on Saturday her husband threatened her in the 1400 block of McCall Drive. Police made a report for harassment.


Fraud — A woman came to the Sherman Police Department Thursday to make a report of money being stolen from her bank account. The woman said her on-line account had been hacked and money was taken from the account and sent to the Philippines through Western Union. Police made a report for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information.


Theft — On Thursday, an officer spoke with a man in the 600 block of South Rusk Street. The man said someone had stolen his pickup truck that morning. The officer made a report for theft.


Driving while intoxicated — An officer went Thursday to a car accident in the 2500 block of Texoma Parkway. One of the drivers had consumed alcohol before driving. He agreed to perform field sobriety tests, and the tests showed multiple signs of intoxication. The man also had three previous convictions for driving while intoxicated. The officer arrested the man for driving while intoxicated third or more and made an offense report.
