Denison Police


Assault - The victim told police Saturday that he was leaving a night club in the 3100 block of South Mirick Avenue when a man hit him in the face and knocked him to the ground. The investigation will continue.


Theft - Last Wednesday police responded to the 2800 block of West Crawford Street in reference to a theft. The victim said that someone stole his cell phone out of his car. Police will be following up on leads.


Possession of marijuana - An officer conducted a traffic stop Friday in the 100 block of Highway 69 East. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and had no valid driver’s license. The officer arrested the driver for possession of marijuana and driving while license invalid.


Possession of a controlled substance - An officer stopped a car Friday between Scullin Avenue and Chandler Avenue for a minor traffic violation. The driver was found to not have a valid driver’s license and was arrested. A passenger was arrested for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle. The passenger was also in possession of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and the passenger was charged with possession of a controlled substance. A different passenger was found to be chewing on some baggies and was arrested for tampering with evidence.


Theft - On Friday, a victim told police that an unknown suspect removed a 14-foot metal dump trailer from his property in the 1700 block of South Rusk Avenue.


Burglary - A victim told police on Friday that four women entered his business in the 900 block of South Austin Avenue and spoke to him about reserving some tables for a large party of people. During this time, a man entered the kitchen/office area and took cash and checks from inside the area. The investigation will continue.


Evading arrest - Officers attempted to stop a car Friday in the 3100 block of Juanita Drive for a minor traffic violation. The car continued driving for several blocks and stopped in a driveway. The officers arrested the driver for evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana and charged with possession of marijuana. Officers also charged the driver with driving while license invalid and issued him citations for open container of alcohol, failure to identify and no insurance.


Shoplifting - On Saturday, employees at a store in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75 said that a man exited the store with a shopping cart containing $135.58 worth of items that he did not pay for. Police arrested the man for theft over $50. The man was also found to have an outstanding warrant through Collin County and was also arrested for that.


Theft - The victim told police Sunday that someone stole his 5-foot by 10-foot box trailer that contained numerous tools from the 500 block of West Sears Street. Police will be following up on leads.


Shoplifting - Police were notified Sunday of a shoplifting incident that occurred in a store in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75. Store employees said that a man concealed $115.94 worth of items in a shopping bag and left the store without paying. The man left the store on foot and was located by officers at a nearby business. Officers arrested the man for theft over $50.


Shoplifting - Employees at a store in the 400 block of North Highway U.S. 75 told police Sunday that a woman concealed $60.14 worth of items in her purse and left the store without paying for them. Police arrested the woman for theft over $50 and an outstanding Grayson County warrant.


Theft - Police were told Monday of a theft that occurred in the 700 block of West Day Street. The victim said someone stole a shoulder bag that contained a .357-caliber handgun and a .45-caliber handgun, together worth $775, and numerous miscellaneous items worth $683. Police will be following up on leads.


Burglary - On Tuesday, a victim told police that an unknown suspect burglarized her car in the 200 block of East Walker Street. The suspect entered the unlocked car and removed a tote bag that contained checks and other financial material.


Sherman Police


Driving while license invalid - On Monday, police were working school zone enforcement in the 1200 block of Pecan Grove Road. The driver of a car committed two driving infractions and was stopped for the violations. It was discovered that the driver had a suspended license and prior convictions for driving on an invalid license. Police arrested the driver and took her to Grayson County Jail.


Theft - A man called police Monday to report a theft. Sometime between 8 p.m. on Friday and midnight on Saturday an unknown suspect removed a gaming console from a house in the 1800 block of Westside Drive. The man said he had taken the gaming console over to a friend’s house on Friday. He left the house at 8 p.m. and returned at midnight to find his property missing. The value of the gaming console is $250. Police made a report for theft.


Reckless damage - An officer was dispatched Tuesday to a reckless damage call in the 400 block of North Travis Street. An unknown suspect struck a metal box with a car. The officer made a report for reckless damage.


Theft - A woman came to the police department Monday to report a theft. She told police that someone had been taking tools from her shop where she works in the 800 block of East Lamar Street. The tools missing were valued at $300. Police made a report for theft.


Theft - On Monday police received a call from the owner of a business in the 400 block of North Crockett Street. The woman said she suspected one of her employees of removing money from her office. Police made a report for theft.


Criminal mischief - A woman called police Monday to report criminal mischief. Sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. on Saturday an unknown suspect shattered the driver’s side, front window of her vehicle while it was parked in the 1900 block of Jones Circle. Police made a report for criminal mischief.


Criminal mischief - At 3:31 a.m. on Tuesday an unknown suspect threw an object through the window of a house in the 1300 block of South Walnut Street, causing the window pane to shatter. Police made a report for criminal mischief.
