Driving while license invalid — Jan. 10 an officer attempted to stop a car in the 1300 block of S. Austin Avenue because because of prior knowledge that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, according to police reports. The driver did not stop and was driving in a reckless manner. The driver stopped the car in the 1900 block of S. Mirick Avenue. The officer arrested the driver for an outstanding Denison PD warrant, driving while license invalid with previous conviction, reckless driving and evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle with previous conviction.

Driving while license invalid — On Jan. 10, an officer attempted to stop a car in the 1300 block of S. Possession of marijuana — On Jan. 11, an officer saw two suspicious persons in the parking lot of a night club in the 300 block of W. Coffin Street. One of the men was in possession of marijuana, and the officer arrested him for it. The officer arrested the other man for public intoxication.


Assault — An officer responded to an assault Jan. 11 in the 2400 block of S. Austin Avenue. A man assaulted a woman while she was inside a car. The woman was taken to Texoma Medical Center for her injuries. The officer arrested the man for public intoxication and assault causing bodily injury/family violence.


Burglary — A victim told police Jan. 11 that he is missing $527 worth of tools from his house in the 1600 block of W. Parnell St. He named a possible suspect. The investigation will continue.


Assault — An officer responded to an assault Jan. 11 in the 5000 block of U.S. Highway 75 South. The victim said he was in a car with other people when the driver pulled over, got out of the car, drug the victim out of the car and assaulted him. A completed case will be forwarded to the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office.


Theft — A victim reported a theft Jan. 11 that occurred at her house in the 600 block of E. Sears Street. An unknown suspect removed a lawn mower, swing set, trampoline and three bicycles from the victim’s yard.


Criminal mischief — On Jan. 12, officers responded to reports of criminal mischief in the 1200 block of S. Treece Avenue. Someone had scratched words into two cars. The victims named a possible suspect. The investigation will continue.


Burglary — Police received a report of burglary Jan. 12 that occurred in the 200 block of W. Heron Street. An unknown suspect removed a television, gaming console, three pairs of boots and a pair of tennis shoes from the house.


Theft — Police investigated a theft Jan. 12 in the 800 block of W. Munson Street. The victim said that his four-wheeler was taken from next to the carport. He named some possible suspects. The investigation will continue.


Shoplifting — On Monday, police responded to a shoplifting at a store in the 400 block of N. U.S. Highway 75. Store employees said a woman concealed items and passed all possible points of sale. Police arrested the woman for theft with two previous convictions.


Sherman Police


Found property — A woman came to the police department Tuesday to report found property. The woman gave police a black and white, zebra-print wallet that she found in the 800 block of S. East Street. The officer put the wallet and contents in the city of Sherman evidence locker pending return to the rightful owner, and report for found property was generated.


Possession of marijuana — On Wednesday, officers went to an accident in the 1600 block of E. Lamar Street. Officers later found the suspect car nearby. One of the car’s occupants in the vehicle was in possession of a controlled substance. Officers arrested him and took him to the Grayson County Jail.


Public intoxication — On Thursday, officers were dispatched to a possible intoxicated man in the 500 block of N. Highland Avenue. The male was unsteady on his feet and emitting a strong odor of alcohol. The man told police he need to walk one mile home. Police determined that the man was intoxicated in a public place and a danger to himself and others, and arrested him for public intoxication.


Driving while intoxicated —An officer was dispatched Thursday to a restaurant in the 3600 block of N. U.S. Highway 75 regarding a driver who had passed out behind the wheel of her car in the drive through. Officers made contact with the driver, who showed several signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking prior to driving. The officers arrested the driver and took her to the Grayson County Jail.


Driving while license invalid — Police made a traffic stop Thursday in the 200 block of Sunset Boulevard for speeding in a school zone. The driver’s license was suspended and he had previous convictions of driving while license invalid. The officer arrested the driver for driving while license invalid with previous convictions.


Burglary — An officer responded Thursday to a house in the 1400 block of S. Travis Street to follow up on received information. Several items had been stolen from an unsecured and unattached garage at the house last month. The victim had not made an initial report. The officer obtained information from a witness of the burglary, who identified one of the suspects.


Assault — An officer spoke with a man Thursday in the 500 block of S. Gribble Street regarding an assault. The man said he was at a friend’s house in the 1600 block of La Salle Drive. While he was there, a man punched him in the face. After he was punched, the man pushed the suspect and the suspect bit him. The officer made a report for assault causing bodily injury.


Obstruction or retaliation — Police went Thursday to the 900 block of Cottonwood Drive regarding harassment. The victim is an investigator for the Department of Family and Protective Services. The victim said that the suspect is an involved party in one of their investigations. The suspect made threatening statements to the victim. Police made a report for obstruction or retaliation.


Unauthorized use of vehicle — On Thursday, an officer responded to a house in the 500 block of S. Maxey Street. The victim had loaned his car to an unknown man to go to the store. After two days, the suspect had failed to return the car. The officer made a report for unauthorized use of vehicle. The case will be forwarded to the criminal investigation division for further investigation.


Debit card abuse — An officer responded to a burglarized car Thursday in the parking lot of a business in the 1800 block of N. Loy Lake Road. The victim said her purse and its contents, were stolen from her vehicle. The victim learned from her bank that the suspect had already used her debit card. The officer made a report for credit/debit card abuse.


Exploitation of elderly individual — An officer responded to a theft Thursday in the 1500 block of N. Hoard Avenue. The victim said he received a call from a man who told the victim he missed his jury duty and was being fined. The suspect told the victim to withdraw money from his account and send it to the suspect. The victim sent the suspect the money. The victim later discovered it was a scam and called the police. The officer made a report for exploitation of elderly individual.


No proof of financial responsibility — An officer stopped a car Thursday in the 200 block of Sunset Boulevard for a traffic violation. The officer arrested the driver for no proof of financial responsibility and arrested the passenger for possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone.
