Sherman Police


Assault - An assault occurred Friday at a business in the 1700 block of East Lamar Street. The victim told the responding officer that she was pushed by another woman while arguing about their position in line to purchase a video. The officer made a report for assault causes bodily injury.


Assault - An officer responded Friday to the 600 block of West Belden Street in reference to an assault that occurred the day before in the 800 block of East McGee Street. The officer made a report for assault causeing bodily injury to family member.


Theft - A man called police Friday to report a theft. The man said that at 10 p.m. Thursday he saw a man loading a shopping cart at a store in the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82. When the suspect finished loading the cart, he pushed the shopping cart off the store property and headed south. The cart is valued at $298. Police made a report for theft.


Theft - A man called police Friday to report a theft that occurred Wednesday at a store in the 2700 block of Texoma Parkway. A store surveillance camera taped an employee placing $200 in cash in his pants pocket and leaving the store. The suspect was confronted on Thursday and agreed to return the money but never did. Police made a report for theft.


Theft - Police made phone contact with a man Friday who reported a theft. The man said that a woman entered a store at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3700 block of Town Center. Surveillance video shows that the woman concealed a cowboy hat under her jacket and exited the store without paying for it. Police made a report for theft.


Theft - A woman called police Friday to report a theft. At 11 a.m. on Friday at a store in the 4500 block of Texoma Parkway, the suspect entered the store and selected three items of merchandise. The suspect waited for the on-duty employee to go to the back of the store and then exited the store without paying. Police made a report for theft.


Reckless damage - On Friday, an officer responded to the 200 block of North Travis Street. A man spoke with the officer and said a car had hit his car while it was parked in a parking lot. The officer made a report for reckless damage.


Theft - An officer went to a business Friday in the 900 block of South Sam Rayburn Freeway West to respond to a theft. The business owner said unknown suspects stole $14,000 worth of equipment from the lot. The officer made a report for theft of property and forwarded it to CID for further investigation.


Unauthorized use of vehicle - On Friday an officer went to the 2600 block of Juniper Drive in reference to a possibly stolen vehicle. The victim said someone had taken his car without his consent and returned it shortly thereafter. The officer made a report for unauthorized use of vehicle.


Assault - An officer responded to an assault Friday in the 600 block of Graham Drive. The victim said her ex-boyfriend grabbed her arm and neck. She had fresh injuries, according to the police reports. The officer made a report for assault.


Accident involving damage to vehicle - Dispatch received a phone call Friday reporting a hit-and-run accident in the 700 block of Heritage Parkway. The suspect struck the rear bumper of the victim’s vehicle and then fled the scene. Police made a report for accident involving damage to a vehicle.


Failure to identify - An officer made a traffic stop Friday in the 3000 block of North U.S. 75 for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the officer asked the man in the car to identify himself and the man gave a false name. The officer learned the man’s real name, and the man admitted that he lied. The officer arrested the man for failure to identify giving false/fictitious information and took him to Grayson County Jail.


Possession of a controlled substance - On Saturday an officer responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the 2900 block of North U.S. Highway 75. The officer found that the driver of the car was intoxicated. The officer searched the man and found a baggie of cocaine in his pocket. Another small baggie of cocaine was found in the man’s car. The officer arrested the man for driving while intoxicated with open container and possession of a controlled substance PG 1, less than one gram.


Assault - An officer was dispatched Saturday to the 700 block of East Odneal Street to respond to an assault. The victim told the officer that the suspect had hit her in the face. She attempted to call police and the suspect ripped the phone cord out of the wall. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The officer made reports for assault causing bodily injury and interference with an emergency call.


Driving while license invalid - An officer initiated a traffic stop Saturday in the 300 block of South Grand Avenue. The officer learned that the driver was driving with a suspended license with a previous conviction for driving with license invalid. The officer arrested the driver for driving while license invalid with previous conviction.


Possession of a controlled substance - On Saturday police went to the 2100 block of Texoma Parkway, and saw a man quickly leave the area where the call came from. The man was stopped and police found him to have more than two grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Police arrested the man for possession of a controlled substance and took him to Grayson County Jail.


Driving while license invalid - An officer stopped a car Saturday in the 190 block of N. Grand Avenue to verify the insurance. The officer found that the driver had three warrants out of the Sherman Police Department, had a suspended license and her vehicle was not insured. The officer arrested the woman for the warrants and for driving with a suspended license.


Accident - Police were called Saturday to the 100 block of South Woods Street regarding a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the 1600 block of North Travis Street. The victim said her car was involved in an accident with another car, and the other driver did not stop and provide information. Police made a report for accident involving damage.


Theft - An officer spoke to a man on Saturday in the 300 block of North Heritage Parkway regarding a theft. The man said that someone stole his trailer sometime between Sunday, Nov. 3 at noon and Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. The officer made a report for theft of property.


Burglary - Officers were dispatched Saturday to the 4500 block of West Houston Street in reference to a burglary. The victim told officers that several items were missing from a storage unit. Officers did not find any signs of forcible entry into the unit. A report for burglary of building was made.


Driving while license invalid - On Saturday an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 520 block of West Lamar Street. The driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license and her car was not insured. The officer arrested the driver for driving while license invalid.


Possession of a controlled substance - An officer went to a house Saturday in the 1600 block of East Mulberry Street in reference to a fraud. During the encounter the officer asked a woman for consent to search her room. A box was found with a small amount of a substance in it that tested positive for methamphetamine. The officer arrested the woman for possession of a controlled substance, PG 1, less than one gram.


Debit card abuse - An officer talked to a person Saturday at the police station regarding unauthorized charges they had on their bank statement. The victim said that an unknown person used their debit card on Monday, Oct. 7 at a store in Sherman. The officer made a report for credit card or debit card abuse and forwarded the case to the Criminal Investigation Division.


Theft - On Saturday an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82 in reference to a theft. The caller reported that a man was detained after he was seen concealing merchandise and left the store without paying for any of the items. The suspect admitted to the theft, and the officer arrested him for theft.


Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - Police received a phone call Saturday reporting an assault in the 4800 block of Texoma Parkway. An officer went to the 300 block of South Travis Street to speak with one of the victims. The victim said that a man had tried to run him off the roadway and had rammed his vehicle in the process, causing damage. The officer made a report for assault.


Fraud - An officer was dispatched Saturday to the 1600 block of East Mulberry Street in reference to a fraud. An elderly woman reported that someone opened a credit card account in her name without permission. The officer spoke to another woman at the house and recovered evidence of the fraud. The woman was arrested for fraud use or possession of identifying information elderly.


Duty on striking unattended vehicle - On Saturday an unknown vehicle backed into a parked vehicle in the 2100 block of North Heritage Parkway. An officer investigated and found evidence to support that the crash occurred at the location.


Assault - Police received a phone call Saturday in reference to an assault in the 1200 block of West Taylor Street. The victim said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend and felt pain. Both the victim and the suspect had marks on their body that correlated with the victim’s statement. The officer arrested the suspect and made a report for assault causing bodily injury to family member.


Burglary - On Sunday, an officer responded to a house in the 2000 block of East Tuck Street in reference to a burglary. The victim said someone had forcibly entered his home while he was away and stole property. The officer made a report for burglary of a habitation.


Criminal trespass - An officer observed a suspect on Sunday in the parking lot of a business in the 500 block of West Lamar Street. The suspect had previously been issued a criminal trespass for the property. An employee told police that she did not give the suspect permission to be on the property. The officer arrested the suspect and made a report for criminal trespass.


Sexual assault - On Sunday an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Throckmorton. A woman told the officer she had been sexually assaulted earlier in the night at a different location in Sherman. The officer made a report for the incident.


Theft - An officer went Sunday to a business in the 200 block of East Lamar Street. An unknown suspect stole two air conditioners from the east side of the business. The case is still under investigation.


Theft - A victim reported Sunday that a cell phone was stolen from the 4800 block of Texoma Parkway. The victim’s daughter left the phone sitting on a gum machine in a business. When they realized they left it, they went back to get the phone and it was gone. The phone was black and red, and valued at $500.


Theft - Police received a report Sunday of a stolen motorcycle from the 300 block of North Heritage Parkway. The victim said that the motorcycle was parked in a parking space in front of his apartment building when he last saw it. When he returned several hours later, it was gone. The motorcycle is valued at $11,000.


Loud, disturbing and unnecessary noise - Officers responded to a disturbance Sunday in the 1900 block of Monte Cristo Drive. During the investigation, a man was arrested for an ordinance violation and taken to Grayson County Jail.
