DURANT, Okla. — The pedestrian who was struck and killed Friday on U.S. Highway 69, half a mile north of Durant, has been identified by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as Ronald Dale Hunter, 54, from Odessa.

DURANT, Okla. — The pedestrian who was struck and killed Friday on U.S. Highway 69, half a mile north of Durant, has been identified by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as Ronald Dale Hunter, 54, from Odessa.


Hunter reportedly ran into the northbound lane of 69 and struck the passenger side of a Kia Rio. While laying in the road, he was run over by a second, unidentified vehicle. The identity of the second driver remains unknown, according to the statement.


Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene.


The Kia Rio was driven by a 19-year-old woman from Caddo, Okla. She was uninjured.


The statement did not include the reason why Hunter ran into the road. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
