BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced Friday that they are investigating unidentified human remains found this week in rural Bryan County.

The OSBI is not yet releasing the exact location of the remains. On Jan. 26 a local resident found a skull, and on Thursday, local and state authorities revisited the area and discovered other skeletal remains, OSBI said in a written release.

"Investigators believe the body is that of a white man, 40 years old or older," the release said. "The unidentified man likely died between one and five years ago due to the condition of the remains. No missing person’s reports in the area match this man. Therefore, the medical examiner’s office will attempt to extract DNA from the remains and enter it into a national missing person’s database."

An OSBI forensic artist may also reconstruct the skull.

The OSBI asks anyone with information that could help in the investigation or help identify the man to call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
