Burglary — On Friday an officer spoke with a man in the 1500 block of S. Austin Street in reference to a burglary. The man said he and a woman he had only known for three days were in Denison on November 21. The woman took his truck while they were in Denison. The man later returned home and found some of his tools were missing. The man believed the woman used his house key from the truck key ring to get inside his house and take the tools. Police made a report for burglary of habitation.
Harassment — An officer made telephone contact Friday with a woman reporting harassment. The woman said she had recently applied for a personal assistant job on-line. In doing so, she received contact from a man who sent her a check, instructing her to cash the check and keep a portion of the check for herself. The suspect then instructed the woman to forward the remaining balance to another woman in Dallas. Believing the check was part of a scam, the woman told the man that she was going to destroy the check and requested the suspect cease all contact with her. The suspect has ignored the woman’s request and has sent her repeated text messages. The officer made a report for harassment.
Duty on striking fixture — An officer spoke with a woman Friday in the 600 block of S. Montgomery Street. The woman said a man driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup hit an electric pole and then fled the scene. The officer made a report about the wreck.
Warrant arrest — On Friday an officer stopped a car for a traffic offense in the 100 block of W. Taylor Street. The driver was found to have a suspended license with previous convictions and an outstanding Grayson County warrant. The officer arrested the driver the outstanding warrant and driving while license invalid with previous conviction.
Prohibited substance in correctional facility — An officer took an arrested man Friday to the Grayson County Jail. The man denied being in possession of any contraband. Police searched the man, and a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine was found on him. The man was also charged with prohibited substance/item in correctional facility, and police completed a report.
Assault — An officer was dispatched Friday to a residence in the 1300 block of N. Cleveland Avenue in reference to an assault. The officer learned an assault had occurred between non—related people and that the suspect had left prior to the police arriving. The officer made a report for assault causes bodily injury.
Driving while license invalid — On Saturday an officer went to the 2300 block of S. U.S. Highway 75 in reference to an accident. One man involved was later taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was found to have a suspended drivers license with previous convictions for the same offense. The man was later released from the hospital and arrested for driving while license invalid with previous conviction and taken to the Grayson County Jail.
Theft — Police were called Saturday to the 400 block of E U.S. Highway 82 regarding a theft. A business detained a woman for stealing over $300 worth of merchandise. When police arrived, the woman provided false information about her identity. The woman faces charges of theft of property and fail to ID/false fictitious information.
Fail to identify — An officer went Saturday to the 3600 block of South Highway 75 to respond to a disturbance. The officer spoke with a man who gave a false name and had a warrant out of Grayson County. The man was arrested for failing to identify himself as a fugitive.
Theft — On Saturday police responded to the 400 block of S. Crockett Street, in reference to a catalytic converter being stolen from a pickup. The investigation revealed that the victim had their vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 4100 block of N. U.S. Highway 75 when the part was stolen from the vehicle. Police made a report for theft of property.
Criminal trespass —An officer spoke with a man Saturday in the 500 block of N. Highland Avenue. The man was given a criminal trespass warning for the business and he refused to leave. After multiple warnings by the officer, the man continued to refuse and was arrested for criminal trespass.
Assault — An officer went Saturday to the 500 block of W. Belden Street. A man reported his wife tried to kick him. The officer made a report for assault by contact.
Theft — On Saturday a woman came to the lobby of the Sherman Police Department to report a car theft. The woman reported her vehicle was stolen while it was parked at a business in the 1400 block of S. F.M. 1417. Police made a report and the investigation is on—going.
Theft — An officer was dispatched Saturday to the 800 block of Northcreek Drive in reference to a theft. A man reported the catalytic converter was stolen off of his vehicle during the day while he was working. The officer made a report for theft.
Driving while intoxicated — An officer responded Saturday to the 1100 block of N. Grand Avenue in reference to a car accident. The officer spoke to the suspect who struck the other car. The suspect admitted to consuming alcohol and striking the other vehicle. After further investigation, the officer determined the suspect drove a car in a public place while intoxicated. The officer arrested the suspect for driving while intoxicated.
Emergency detention order — Police were dispatched Saturday to the 2600 block of Village Drive in reference to a mental health concern. An elderly woman claimed to be hearing and seeing suspicious things in her residence which were, the report said, clearly non—existent. The woman was taken in to custody for a mental health evaluation and taken to a local hospital.
Consumption of alcohol by minor — On Sunday an officer responded to a disturbance in the 3600 block of S. U.S. Highway 75. The officer found a suspect in the parking lot causing a disturbance. The suspect had been drinking and was arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Criminal mischief — An officer responded to a disturbance Sunday at a house in the 2500 block N. Travis Street. A man had caused damage to one of the house’s windows. The officer made an offense report.
