With Christmas around the corner, the Sherman City Council has a short agenda on tap for its Monday meeting, to be held at 5 p.m. in City Hall.

The Council is expected to approve the issuance of $3 million in bonds through the Greater Texoma Utility Authority to fund improvements to the city’s wastewater plant and sewer renovations in the south part of town. A large portion of the funds will be used to upgrade the Post Oak Wastewater facility’s headworks, which remove dirt, rocks and other large debris from the blackwater as it enters the plant. The bonds will be repaid through rate revenue.

In other business, the Council will act on a request from Downtown Sherman Preservation & Revitalization to close several downtown streets for the Feb. 22 Red River Mardi Gras & Jazz Fest. Council members are also expected to reappoint Bill Johnson and George Rowland to the GTUA Board.
