The Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority finalized an agreement with TxDOT Aviation that will help finance design services for upcoming capital improvements projects at North Texas Regional Airport — Perrin Field, during its monthly meeting on Thursday.

TxDOT will work with Garver Engineering to implement designs for three capital improvements projects expected to start within the next year. The projects include hangar work and a taxiway, drainage improvements and repair of erosion damage, and a wildlife fence on the south side of the airport.

In the agreement, TxDOT agrees to pay for 90 percent of the costs of the design work, which is expected to cost $101,300. The RMA will be responsible for paying the remaining $10,130. The entire project, including design, engineering services, and construction has an expected budget of $1.5 million, said Mike Shahan, director of the NTRA. A separate grant will be issued for the construction phase expenses.

In other matters, the Board members received the monthly report, which included the damages that the airport sustained during the ice storm in early December. In total, the airport sustained $142,400 in damages to roads, facilities, and other assets, said Shahan. Included in the damages were repairs to one of the hangars, which received damage from the weight of the ice and snow on top, which damaged the roof and some its supports.
