The Texoma Council of Governments Governing Board on Thursday approved a contract with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to channel more than $635,000 to local citizens for assistance with weatherization efforts. That amount represents a 21-percent increase over 2013 funding levels. The federally subsidized Weatherization Assistance Program helps homeowners in 15 Texas counties with projects such as insulation upgrades and HVAC replacement.

That amount represents a 21-percent increase over 2013 funding levels. The federally subsidized Weatherization Assistance Program helps homeowners in 15 Texas counties with projects such as insulation upgrades and HVAC replacement.


The WAP received a second shot in the arm when the Board ratified a contract with the Texas Association of Community Action Agencies to infuse an extra $190,000 into area weatherization projects. The TACAA monies will be eligible for individuals living in the ONCOR service area.


In other action, the Board authorized an agreement with TMF Health Quality Institute to provide $4,500 in diabetes self-management education to black Medicare beneficiaries in Cooke, Grayson and Fannin counties. The funds will be provided by the Area Agency on Aging.
