CARTWRIGHT, Okla. — The man wanted for the murder of a woman Thursday night in Grayson County was found dead in Cartwright, Okla. Friday afternoon.

A Cartwright woman noticed a blue pickup truck in a wooded area behind the Cartwright Fire Station at 9 a.m. Friday, said Bryan County Sheriff Kenneth Golden. She returned later in the day and noticed that the truck was still there. The woman notified authorities, and Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene around 3 p.m.

The deputies saw a man in the driver’s seat of the truck and ordered him to open the door. When the man did not respond after the deputies made several attempts to communicate, they opened the door and found that the man was deceased.

The man was later identified as Aaron Lynn Smith, 53. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office believes Smith to be connected with the Thursday night death of a Grayson County woman.

Smith’s body has been sent to the Oklahoma City Medical Examiner so the cause of death can be determined.

"There didn’t appear to be any foul play," Golden said. "We don’t know if he overdosed, or had a heart attack, or what."

Smith had no visible wounds when he was discovered, Golden said.
