The Sherman Police Department is requesting help from the public in identifying a retail theft suspect, the Sherman PD said in statement Friday.

The suspect is a woman, 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 200 to 210 pounds, with brown hair and between mid-30s to 40 years of age, the release said. At the time of the theft, she was wearing a red jacket with a red and blue collared shirt and jeans. On Nov. 14, the suspect entered a store located in the 3700 block of Town Center with two children.

Surveillance video shows the suspect concealing a $430 cowboy hat, said SPD. The two children, believed to be ages 9 and 15, acted as "look outs" for the suspect, letting her know when the employees were not paying attention to her, said the statement. Once the suspect concealed the hat, she and the two children exited the store.

The Sherman PD is asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact Det. Miller with the Sherman Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 903-892-7346 or Sherman Dispatch at 903-892-7290.
