At 9:20 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a burglary in progress occurring at First Baptist Church in the 600 block of West Woodard Street, the Denison PD said Wednesday in a written statement. Officers entered the building and arrested 22-year-old David Lee Wolf of Sherman while he was still inside the building.
There were numerous windows and doors in the church that were broken, as well as other property that were damaged or destroyed. The estimated repair and replacement costs will be in excess of $20,000, the statement said.
Officers arrested Wolf for burglary of a building, evading arrest/detention, resisting arrest/transport and criminal mischief over $20,000.
Bail has been set at $5,000 for burglary of a building; $10,000 for criminal mischief over $20,000; and $1,500 each for evading arrest/detention and resisting arrest/transport.
