A Sherman hotel received extensive damage Tuesday night after a fire occurred on the second floor.

At 11:26 p.m., firefighters received a call reporting a fire at the Executive Inn in the 2100 block of Texoma Parkway, said Sherman Fire Chief J.J. Jones. The fire damaged 20 units directly behind the hotel’s office. It took just under 30 minutes to put the fire out, with the Denison Fire Department giving mutual aid.

Jones estimated that the fire caused about $1 million worth of damage.

A few people were treated on site for minor smoke inhalation, Jones said. No one had to be transported to the hospital, and no firefighters were hurt.

The fire is believed to have originated in a second floor utility corridor. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Jones said.
