Sherman Economic Development Corporation has produced a promotional video showcasing Sherman’s industry, landscape and community.

SEDCO President Scott Connell said that for SEDCO, "one of the things we hope is that it will encourage companies and other folks in our market, workers and families, to move into this area."

Connell said the professionally produced video gives prospective companies looking at expanding in Sherman, "a visual aspect without people having to make a flight out here."

The video appears on www.sedco.org, and Connell said SEDCO is encouraging local institutions to use it in promoting the city of Sherman.

The video is made of sweeping aerial views of Sherman and Texoma landmarks, showcasing the local landscape, infrastructure, and institutions. The large tracts of Progress Park, the industrial park owned by SEDCO, are highlighted along with Austin College, the Grayson County Courthouse, and Old Settlers Park to name a few.

Connell said, "We’re trying to get the name of Sherman out to the world, not just about business but community at large, that this is an attractive place to live. This is a tool we hopefully can use for several years to give a good impression of Sherman."

According to Connell, SEDCO paid a contractor "several thousand dollars" for the promotional video. Connell said SEDCO retains all the intellectual property rights to the film, but according to Connell the development corporation plans on allowing the video to be used freely by third parties.

The video is titled "Sherman, Texas – Broad Horizon," a play on the town’s official motto "Classic town, broad horizon," and it’s the first one on a new YouTube channel started by SEDCO. Connell said the development corporation plans on creating other content on the social media platform to promote the city in the future.
