A house fire that occurred Wednesday night in Denison has displaced four people.

Denison firefighters received a call reporting a fire at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at a house in the 2700 block of Regal Drive. The cause of the fire is not yet known, said Denison Assistant Fire Chief Bill Ray, but it is believed to have started in one of the bedrooms. It took responders about 45 minutes to put out the fire.

Four people lived in the house, but only two were home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries. However, after the occupants evacuated, one went back into the house to retrieve an item, Ray said. He became trapped and firefighters removed him from the house through a window.

The bedroom where the fire originated sustained severe damage, and the rest of the house has smoke damage. The Red Cross is currently helping the four residents of the house by housing them in a motel room, Ray said.
