The Denison School Board will hold two meetings on Tuesday where the Board will discuss upcoming changes within the district as it transitions into the new high school building and the current high school building morphs into the District’s middle school allowing for the creation of an intermediate school.

The Denison School Board will hold two meetings on Tuesday where the Board will discuss upcoming changes within the district as it transitions into the new high school building and the current high school building morphs into the District’s middle school allowing for the creation of an intermediate school.


The Board will a special meeting beginning at 3 p.m. at the Denison ISD Administration Building, located at 1201 S. Rusk Ave in Denison.


Items that will be discussed, considered, and acted upon include:


• the impact of House Bill 5 on the District;


• summer moving issues;


• financial issues in the District;


• intermediate and middle school reorganization plans;


• instructional technology planning and needs;


• communication with parents and the community;


• goals of the Board for the 2014-2015 school year;


• receive an update on the bond program.


The Board will hold a regular meeting at the Administration Building after the special summit. The regular meeting is expected to begin at 6:30 p.m. Items that will be discussed, considered, and acted upon include:


• the 2014-2015 school calendar;


• the schedule for the Texas Public Schools Week;


• budget amendments for the 2013-2014 school year;


• a deductive change order to B. McDaniel Middle School and the current high school renovations;


• a request to donate the Golden Rule Gymnasium and property to the Boys & Girls Club upon the school closure;


• a request from the Denison Alumni Association for use of District property at 1710 S. Mirick for the 2014-2015 school year.
