Grayson County commissioners Tuesday appointed Jeff Lillis as the County’s new interim Health Department Director. The move comes after John Teel, the Health Department director for more than three years, resigned this month to take a position in Plano.

"It’ll be exciting," Lillis said when asked about getting the appointment. Lillis has been with the Grayson County Health Department for 7.5 years and started there as a registered sanitarian. In addition to inspecting local eateries for compliance with health codes, Lillis has also worked in environmental health for the county. He also served as the County’s public health contact.

Lillis said he thinks his appointment will buy the County time while they search for someone to replace Teel. Lillis said he worked for several years at Johnson & Johnson before he was laid off. Then he finished up his degree and looked for a stable job that he could work for the long haul. He said he found that at the Grayson County Health Department. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
