BELLS — Residents of Bells no longer need to boil tap water before consumption, the city said in a statement Thursday.

On Tuesday, the city of Bells asked residents to boil any water used for drinking, cooking or ice making because of a chlorine/water line break. The Texas Commission on Environmental Equality tested the water and has deemed it safe.

"Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of Dec. 12, 2013," the statement said.
