Denison police arrested a 14-year-old B. McDaniel Middle School student Wednesday morning for assaulting a teacher.

School employees removed a student from class for causing a disturbance and sent the student to the office, said Denison Police Department Lt. Mike Eppler. Once in the office, the student struck a teacher in the face, causing bruising and redness. Police responded around 11 a.m. and arrested the student.

Police booked the student at the Denison City Jail and then transported the student to the Grayson County Juvenile Detention Center. Eppler said he did not know if the student is still being held there. The student is being charged with assault of a public servant, which is a third-degree felony.
