ALLEN — KJ Stastny scored 18 points on Tuesday night as Celina’s girls punched their ticket to the Class 3A Region II tournament with a 54-43 win over District 10-3A rival Frisco Lone Star at Allen High School.

Sarah Cantu and Kynese Davis added 14 points apiece for the Lady Bobcats (28-6), who avenged a region quarterfinal loss to Lone Star last year. Whitney Apari once again led the Lady Rangers (19-10) with 17 points.

Celina, which was 3A state runner-up two years ago, will take on Crandall at 6 p.m. on Friday at Texas A&M-Commerce. The other semifinal pits Argyle (33-1), another district rival of Celina, against Canton at 8 p.m. The two winners will square off at 1 p.m. on Saturday with a trip to Austin on the line.

The Lady Cats trailed by one at the end of the first eight minutes, but a 17-10 second period gave them a 30-24 advantage at the break.
