BONHAM — The Creative Arts Center of Bonham has selected its "artists of the month" and scheduled several upcoming activities for the public. The center is located at 200 West 5th Street in Bonham and the phone number is 903-640-2196.

Artists of the month are Julie Stephenson, Brian Brinlee and Lori Price.

Stephenson’s work is being exhibited at the Fannin County Courthouse and at the CAC. Born in Torrance, California, she grew up in Texas. At age five, she began learning embroidery and needlepoint, soon followed by trying watercolor, oil, painting, pencil drawing, pen and ink drawing, floral design and, more recently, jewelry. Photography holds the most interest for her.

"I am most passionate about photography," says Stephenson. "Photography has added a new facet to my creative life and has allowed me to fulfill my love of exploring my environment through a camera lens. Photography has introduced me to people I never otherwise would have met, and brought me out of my comfort zone to a wider world just waiting to be captured with my camera."

Brinlee grew up drawing and has been a freelance illustrator since 2001. He attended the University of North Texas, studying graphic art, but found he was more interested in creating a visual story. He began work in comics, doing artwork for the Indie hit Sky Pirates of Valendor, then expanded into other fields such as game art and book covers. A majority of his work is done digitally, but he will enjoys working with paints and brushes. Hie work is being showcased at Legend Bank and at the CAC.

Price has lived in Bonham for 10 years and is a member of the CAC and the Red River Photo Club. Photography is her passion.

"I have always had a love for photography and I have studied photography through the New York Institute of Photography," says Price. "I have found over the years that the best part of photography is the ability to capture special moments and save memories for a lifetime."

Photographs by Price are on display at Bonham City Hall and the CAC.

Special events centered on music and painting are also scheduled at the CAC.

On Nov. 13, the center will host its final Jam Night of the year. The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the center. It is free and open to local musicians, singers and music enthusiasts.

Painting parties have been set for 7 p.m. on Nov. 20 and Dec. 11. Teaching the November party will be Cheryl Wilson and the theme will be in keeping with Thanksgiving. The December party will focus on Christmas.

Participants will bring their own drinks and snacks. The CAC will provide all art supplies and instructions. Everyone leaves with a finished project.

Lisa Avila, executive director of the CAC, adds that the center can also accommodate painting parties for office groups or other groups who wish to have a painting party on a night of their choosing.
