Austin College senior volleyball player Shelby Eaves has been named first-team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for her outstanding play during the 2013 season.

Eaves was also one of six SCAC players to receive a vote for the conference Player of the Year award.

An outside hitter from Farmersville, Eaves led the SCAC and ranked seventh in the nation in kills per set on the year, averaging 4.57 with 653 total kills this season. That number is the second highest single season kill total in Austin College volleyball history and helped move Eaves into second place on the career kills list.

Eaves was named the SCAC Player of the Week once this season and was named to the all-tournament teams at Averett, Rhodes, and the Austin College Invitational. In addition to her kills, Eaves also averaged 2.86 digs per set and had 34 service aces and 70 total blocks during the regular season.

This is the second straight season Eaves, the former SCAC Newcomer of the Year, has earned first-team honors.
