Editor's note: This article has been updated with additional detailing including the fact that the wreck did not involve an actual collision with the semi-truck.

A damaged tire on a semi truck caused another vehicle to wreck on U.S. Highway 75 early Saturday morning, Denison Police officials said Saturday. The wreck occurred on the southbound lanes of the highway outside of Texoma Medical Center at around midnight.

The wreck occurred as a semi truck and a Chevrolet Cruze were both traveling south on the highway, Denison Police Lt. Mike Eppler said. A piece of a tire from the semi truck came off and struck the other vehicle, disabling it. The semi truck continued to drive down the roadway and was not located, Eppler said.

The exit to FM 691 was temporarily closed following the wreck.

Call records show that the driver of the Cruze complained of neck pain following the wreck. Eppler said the driver was transported to TMC with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police officials are asking any witnesses of the incident to call the department so it can complete the report on the wreck. Eppler said he does not expect any charges to be filed at this time.

“I’d think the semi driver simply didn’t know what happened,” he said.
