Everyone from novices to professional fishermen were at Waterloo Park Saturday for a catfish rodeo hosted by the Denison Parks and Recreation Department and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
The event allowed participants to fish for catfish and compete for prizes. Dozens of fishermen lined the pond at Waterloo Park hoping to win a prize. The two age divisions were for those 16 and younger and 17 and older. Prizes were awarded for biggest fish, smallest fish and heaviest stringer in each age division. Prizes were also awarded for the first five tagged catfish caught during the derby, as the tagged catfish were only stocked in the pond.
