UPDATE, 5:56 P.M.: A man who barricaded himself in a home in the 1000 block of East Chaffin Street Thursday morning surrendered peacefully by early afternoon.

Sgt. Brett Mullen said officers assembled at the residence in the 1000 block of East Chaffin Street at approximately 8:20 a.m. to serve a felony warrant against Brandon Shindler, who was wanted on a family-violence, aggravated assault charge. Shindler refused to leave the residence and the standoff ensued.

Sherman Police surrounded the home for at least four hours and blocked off surrounding streets, as a negotiator attempted to contact the man and convince him to surrender. Mullen said officers from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers also provided assistance, as did the Sherman Police Department’s SWAT team.

No injuries were reported. It is unclear whether anyone else was inside the home during the standoff.

UPDATE, 1:43 P.M.: Sherman Police said a man who barricaded himself in a home in the 1000 block of East Chaffin Street Monday morning surrendered peacefully.

Sgt. Brett Mullen was not immediately available for additional comment but said officers arrived at the residence at approximately 8:20 a.m. Thursday to serve a felony warrant against the suspect, who has not been identified. Mullen said he could not provide details about the warrant but said the man refused to comply.

ORIGINAL POST: 10:40 A.M.: Sherman Police said a man has barricaded himself in a home in 1000 block of East Chaffin Street. Mullen said officers attempted to serve a felony warrant at the residence around 8:20 a.m. this morning, and the man refused to leave the home.

Officers have blocked off surrounding streets. It's unclear whether anyone else is inside the home.
