The Texas Department of Transportation is inviting high school and college students to consider spending the summer with the state agency as interns or seasonal employees.

TxDOT Paris District Public Information Officer Tim McAlavy said the organization offers many educational and work opportunities that focus on a host of fields and specialties.

“TxDOT is a very diverse organization,” McAlavy said. “The scope of the skills we employ is pretty wide ranging. It’s not just engineering. We also have people who work in accounting, finance and people who work in the peer sciences, doing things in chemistry. It’s a lot more than just a road-building and engineering outfit.”

McAlavy added that working with TxDOT affords young people many social opportunities and summer stints can open the door to future, full-time employment roles with great perks.

“You get to work with people a lot,” McAlavy said. “The organization is employee friendly and it values its employees. And, accordingly, you get some pretty good benefits.”
