A Denison man with an outstanding warrant, who allegedly had drugs in his vehicle, was arrested last week after falling asleep at a stop light.
Lt. Mike Eppler said on Feb. 3, officers responded to the 100 block of West Main Street after receiving a call at 8 a.m. stating that a man had fallen asleep at his vehicle while waiting for the light to change. Eppler said officers woke the man, who gave them a false name Police found that he was wanted on outstanding city warrant and in possession of marijuana and pills.
“He might have over imbibed, it looks like,” Eppler said in reference to the illicit substances. “It's certainly possible.”
The man was taken into custody and charged with failure to identify, as well as possession of a controlled substance and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. Both possession charges occurred in a drug-free zone.
“He did the stopping before we got there,” Eppler said. “It did make it a little easier.”
