The Texas Department of Public Safety said it is searching for man who led troopers on chase through Grayson County Monday night, both in his vehicle and on foot.
DPS Staff Sgt. Mark Tackett said the chase began shortly after 6 p.m. when a trooper initiated a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Cruz sedan along FM 120, west of Denison.
“We attempted to stop him for a traffic violation he had committed,” Tackett said. “He elected to evade officers and at one point, when he got near the airport (North Texas Regional Airport — Perrin Field), he abandoned his vehicle for unknown reasons and fled on foot.”
Tackett said troopers were assisted by at least one other agency in the search for the man and a K-9 unit was deployed, as well. But as of Tuesday morning, Tackett said the man had not been located. The DPS sergeant said he did not know why the man ran from troopers, nor did he have a physical description of the man.
Tackett encouraged all motorists involved in a traffic stop to steer their vehicles toward the shoulder or to a safe location, stop and comply with officers’ instructions.
“Best thing to do is slow down and pull over,” Tackett said.
