Sherman Police said a pedestrian was critically injured Monday night after he attempted to cross a freeway and was struck by a pickup truck.
Sgt. Sam Boyle said officers were dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 289 and U.S. Highway 82 shortly after 6:30 p.m. upon receiving reports of the collision. Boyle said the male pedestrian was from Grayson County, but he did not know his age.
“There was a pedestrian crossing the on-ramp to U.S. 289 and was struck by a vehicle exiting U.S. 82, merging onto (northbound) U.S. 289,” Boyle said.
The Sherman Police sergeant said the man was struck by a Ford pickup truck and flown to Medical City Plano in critical, but stable condition. Boyle said it was too early to determine whether the driver was at fault and whether the department would bring any charges or issue any citations.
“We still have a lot of investigating to do before we can determine what decision we’re going to make on that,” Boyle said.
