A Honey Grove man was indicted recently on two charges of manslaughter stemming from a wreck killed two people.
The wreck happened on March 6, 2016 about a half a mile west of Honey Grove on State Highway 56.
Billy Keith Basye had previously been indicted on murder charges, as well as two counts of abandoning or endangering a child, and criminal negligence, all stemming from the same incident.
Previously published reports show that Rachel Roberts, 39, of Windom and her 8-year-old son, Tyler Roberts, were pronounced dead at the scene of a collision between two vehicles. Neither were wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck. Basye was driving the truck that struck the car that the mother and child were in. DPS reports said that Basye’s vehicle drifted into the lane with Mrs. Roberts’ vehicle.
Also injured in the wreck were Patty Medcalf, 55, and Dominque Larson, 18, also of Windom.
Basye was also injured in the wreck.
