Sherman Police


Accident involving injury — Police and fire were dispatched on Jan. 6 to the intersection of Wanda and Cherry streets for a two-vehicle collision. One driver fled the scene in his vehicle, and the other driver was transported by EMS to a local hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle that fled the scene was located, but the driver was not. In the rear of the vehicle, in plain view, were several items belonging to the City of Sherman. A theft report was filed, and the investigation is ongoing.


Striking unattended vehicle — Dispatch received a call on Jan. 6 in reference to a hit-and-run crash in the 1800 block of West Houston Street. The female victim stated that her vehicle was hit while parked in the driveway of a home she was visiting. A report for duty on striking unattended vehicle was filed.


Assault — An officer responded on Jan. 6 to a disturbance in the 4200 block of Texoma Parkway. The male victim stated that a suspect threw a jacket at his face. The victim was offended by the act. The suspect admitted to throwing the jacket at the victim. The parties were separated and a report for assault by contact family member was taken.


Driving while intoxicated — Officers stopped a vehicle on Jan. 6 in the 2800 block of West Houston Street. The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and also had a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, 2nd.


Driving while intoxicated — A traffic stop was conducted on Jan. 7 in the 1200 block of East Lamar Street. The driver of the vehicle was suspected of being intoxicated. An investigation was conducted, which revealed that to be the case, and the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated/open alcohol container.


Criminal mischief — Dispatch received a call on Jan. 7 from a resident in the 600 block of North Kessler Boulevard. The caller reported that someone had just broken out the back glass in her vehicle. A report for criminal mischief from $100 to $750 was generated.


Possession — Officers stopped a vehicle on Jan. 7 in the 600 block of East Lamar Street. During a search that followed, an officer found a female suspect to be in possession of marijuana. The suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.


Criminal mischief — The public safety administrator received a call on Jan. 8 from a male complainant. The caller reported criminal mischief being done to his vehicle in the 1200 block of North Harrison Street. A report for criminal mischief from $100-$750 was generated.


Criminal mischief — A female complainant contacted the public safety administrator on Jan. 6. She reported criminal mischief occurring at her residence in the 1500 block of South Travis Street. A report for criminal mischief from $100-$750 was generated.


Possession — A traffic stop was conducted on Jan. 8 in the 300 block of North Grand Avenue. An odor of marijuana emitted from the vehicle. The suspect admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.


Theft — An officer was conducting an investigation on Jan. 5 in the 3600 block of South U.S. Highway 75. The officer was approached by a citizen who reported an unrelated theft. A report for theft from $100-$750 was generated.


Possession — Officers conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 9 in the 1700 block of West Crescent Drive. Marijuana was located in the vehicle, and a report for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces was filed.


Possession — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 9 in the 2000 block of North Ross. The driver had a syringe containing trace amounts of methamphetamine. A report for possession of a controlled substance PG1 less than one gram was generated.


Theft — Officers were dispatched on Jan. 9 to the 3200 block of North U.S. Highway 75 in reference to a stolen bicycle. Their investigation revealed that a male had walked to the back of a business and stolen an employee’s bicycle. An attempt to locate the suspect was unsuccessful. A report for theft less than $100 was completed.


Possession — A traffic stop was conducted on Jan. 10 in the 1600 block of East Chaffin Street. An odor of marijuana was emitted from the vehicle. The suspect admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

Burglary of a building — A complainant reported on Jan. 10 that a suspect entered a building in the 1700 block of West Morton. Nothing was determined to be missing at the time of the report.


Burglary of a building — A complainant reported on Jan. 10 that a suspect entered a building in the 2300 block of West Morton and removed a safe, electronic equipment and some gift cards. Officers are following up on leads.


Possession — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 10 for a traffic violation. A suspect was arrested for an outstanding Grayson County warrant and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
