The Denison Independent School District board of trustees is set to consider election-related items during its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.

The election would be held in ward three and ward six on May 5. The purpose of the election would be to elect board members to fill position No. 2 for ward three and position No. 1 for ward six.

In relation to the election, the board will also consider approval of a joint city and school election agreement. Section 11.0581 of the Education Code requires independent school districts to conduct their annual trustee elections jointly with a municipality within the school district’s boundaries. In order to have a joint election, DISD and the city of Denison are required to approve a joint election agreement approved by both governing bodies.

Also in relation to the election, the board will consider approval of a contract for election services with the Grayson County Election Administration. This consideration is necessary due to the joint election requirement.

During the meeting, the board president will appoint three members of the board to serve on the 2018-2019 budget committee. The following organizations will be represented on the committee — president of the Denison Classroom Teachers Association, president of the Denison Principals Association and a representative from the District Site Based Committee.

Additionally, the board will consider approval of the 2018-2019 Budget Handbook.
