The Sherman Police Department has released few details after one woman was hospitalized last week following a reported violent confrontation.

Sgt. Brett Mullen said Friday at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 600 block of Contemporary Street after receiving a report, which he described as an aggravated assault.

“All we’re releasing right now is that we’re investigating an aggravated assault, family violence,” Mullen said. “The victim of that was transported to the hospital and she is alive. I know there were questions about whether she was dead or not, but no, she is alive.”

When asked whether the department had taken a suspect into custody or identified a person of interest, Mullen said he could not comment.

“We’re going to release more information about it, but given that it’s an ongoing investigation, we’re being pretty tight on it right now,” he said.

Mullen said he did not know when the department would release more details regarding the case.
