Sherman Police said a man was killed on U.S. Highway 75 Tuesday night after his vehicle collided with a semi-truck.

Lt. John Kennemer said Jesse Martinez, 44, was traveling north on the service lanes of U.S. 75 when he entered the freeway shortly before 7 p.m. and collided with a tractor-trailer in front of the Emerson-Fischer processing plant. Kennemer said Martinez’s vehicle went under the semi’s trailer. Paramedics pronounced Martinez dead at the scene.

“At this time, our Critical Accident Investigation Team is still working and they haven’t yet determined a cause,” Kennemer said.

The Sherman Police lieutenant said it was too early to tell whether any charges would be filed against the driver of the semi. Kennemer encouraged all motorists to be alert as they travel.

“They need to be aware of their surroundings at all times,” Kennemer said.
