Sherman Police


Resisting arrest, search or transport — Officers were dispatched on Nov. 3 to the 200 block of East Utah Street in reference to a possible burglary. Upon arrival, they made contact with an individual who matched the description of the suspect. During the investigation, the male suspect used loud and profane language on multiple occasions. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect, but he actively resisted. The suspect was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Grayson County Jail for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.


Possession — Officers observed a male driver on Nov. 3 who was struggling to park his vehicle in the 500 block of West Lamar Street. They investigated and determined that the driver was intoxicated. When the officers advised the suspect that he was under arrest for driving while intoxicated, he became combative and resisted the officers. A probable cause search of his vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana. The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.


Disorderly conduct discharge of firearm — Officers responded on Nov. 4 to shots fired in the 400 block of South Austin Street. Upon arrival, officers located two shell casings. A report for disorderly conduct/discharge of a firearm was generated.


Assault by contact, family member — Officers were dispatched on Nov. 4 to Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in reference to an assault that occurred in an apartment in the 500 block of Scott Circle. Upon arrival, they discovered an assault by contact had occurred. A report for assault by contact, family member was filed.


Found property — A citizen entered police headquarters on Nov. 4 to report a check found in the 200 block of South Dewey. The check was turned over to the police department and placed into evidence for safekeeping. A report was generated for found property.


Theft of property — An officer was dispatched on Nov. 4 to the 1500 block of Texoma Parkway in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon officer arrival, it was reported that a female suspect took the victim’s vehicle without consent. The investigation is ongoing.


Assault causing bodily injury — Dispatch received a call on Nov. 4 in reference to an assault in the 900 block of West Pecan Street. Officers were dispatched to the scene. They investigated and determined that an assault had occurred between an individual and three other males. A report for assault causing bodily injury was generated.


Assault causing bodily injury — An officers was dispatched on Nov. 4 to the 3100 block of Dauphine Drive in regards to a possible assault. An officer spoke with the victim and a witness but was unable to speak with the suspect. The victim had minor visible injuries. An assault causes bodily injury report was generated.


Possession of marijuana — An officer responded on Nov. 5 to a report of harassment in the 2400 block of Texoma Parkway. During the investigation, an odor of burned marijuana was detected coming from a room. A male admitted to smoking marijuana earlier. When asked if there was any more in the room, he stated there was. The male surrendered a gray plastic bag containing less then two ounces of a green leafy substance that smelled like marijuana. He was then arrested for possession of marijuana less then two ounces and taken to the Grayson County Jail.


Burglary of a vehicle — An officer responded on Nov. 5 to a burglary complaint in the 300 block of North Creek Drive. The male victim stated that his unlocked vehicle had been broken into during the night. He reported that his wallet containing cash and credit cards was stolen. A report for burglary of a vehicle was filed.


Theft of property — An officer spoke on Nov. 5 with a male and female in the 2900 block of North U.S. Highway 75. They reported that two cell phone chargers and a charger for a tablet had been stolen while they had rented a room at a hotel in the area. A report for theft of property less than $100 was generated.


Possession of a controlled substance — An officer arrested a female suspect on Nov. 5 in the 1700 block of North Heritage Parkway for an active Grayson County warrant. She was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance (pills). She was booked into the Grayson County Jail for the active warrant and possession of a controlled substance PG3 less than 28 grams.


Assault by contact — Dispatch received a call on Nov. 5 reporting an assault in the 600 block of East King Street. Officers were dispatched, and they spoke with both parties involved. The female victim stated her live-in boyfriend made contact with her which was offensive. A report for assault by contact family member was filed.


Driving while intoxicated — A traffic stop was conducted on Nov. 6 in the 1200 block of West Lamar Street. It was suspected that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. An investigation confirmed that to be the case, and the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
