One person was hospitalized Wednesday night following a collision between a pickup and a motorcycle on FM 121 in Gunter.
Gunter Police Chief Shawn Johnson said the wreck occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. when the driver of the pickup attempted to turn off of Massey Road and join eastbound traffic on FM 121. Johnson said the driver pulled out in front a 39-year-old, male motorcyclist, who was also headed east and then collided with the truck.
“The motorcyclist basically rear ended the truck,” Johnson said. “The occupants of the vehicle were OK and for precautionary purposes, they Life Flighted (air lifted) the motorcycle rider. But he was talking and standing at the scene.”
Johnson said he did not believe the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, but said conversations with the fire department and paramedics indicated that the man would likely make a full recovery.
“Like they always say, look twice for motorcycles,” Johnson said. “They’re hard to see, especially at night.”
