A Denison mother and her adult son are facing multiple charges after police say the pair choked and stabbed a family member over the weekend.
Denison Police Lt. Mike Eppler said officers were dispatched to the family’s residence in the 900 block of West Florence Street at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. Responding officers found an injured man who told them he had been choked by his 52-year-old wife and then stabbed by her 18-year-old son. Eppler said he did not know what led to the violent altercation, but the woman attacked her husband first and then called her son over to the home, who then attacked his stepfather.
“Before we got there, she had chocked him, so that’s where the assault with family violence, impeding breath charge came from,” Eppler said. “Then, while officers were there, when (the stepfather) said who stabbed him, she starts punching him. So, that got her the obstruction-retaliation charge and then she had a possession of marijuana charge.”
The son left the scene prior to officers’ arrival, but was later located and taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault resulting serious bodily injury.
Eppler said the victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover.
The mother and son were both booked into the Grayson County Jail on Monday.
