The Denison Police Department said it will refer a case of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon to the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office for consideration after an argument between two motorists Monday ended with one pulling a gun on the other.

DPD Lt. Mike Eppler said the two men had previously been involved in a minor vehicle collision in June and had struck a deal to settle the damages. But when the two crossed paths again at a convenience store in the 1400 block of South Austin Avenue on Monday, they began to verbally argue over the arrangement. Eppler said the suspect then pulled a pistol on the other man. The Denison Police sergeant declined to identify the suspect because formal charges had not been brought against him as of Wednesday.

“They decided to just work it out among themselves, but that agreement hasn’t happened yet,” Eppler said. “Clearly, it’s caused them some problems.”

Eppler said the suspect left the scene before officer’s arrived, but they were able to locate and interview the man at his residence later that day.
