The Denison Police Department is seeking the public’s help in the identification of a suspect who allegedly threatened a clerk and robbed a convenience store on Monday night.
Lt. Mike Eppler said officers were dispatched to the Park and Beverage along State Highway 91 at approximately 8:20 p.m. Monday after they were notified that a man had entered the business with his face covered, brandished a weapon and demanded money.
“The employee in the store said that she was mopping when the guy came in the store,” Eppler said. “He said ‘You have two minutes to give me all the money and then go into the bathroom,’ which is what the clerk did.”
Eppler said the suspect fled the scene in a silver Chevrolet Tahoe with an undetermined amount of money. The lieutenant said no one was injured in the robbery and declined to comment on the type of weapon used by the suspect, citing conflicting descriptions provided to investigators.
Eppler did say that the clerk did the right thing by following the suspect’s demands.
“If you know they intend to kill you or cause you serious harm, of course you need to defend yourself,” Eppler said. “But if it’s something like this where they just want you to give them the money and get in the bathroom. Just do it. Absolutely comply with what they want.”
Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the suspect is encouraged to call the Denison Police Department at 903-465-2422.
