Abusive call to 911 — Dispatch received a call on Aug. 27 from a female suspect who had made seven previous calls to 911 and remained silent on the calls. An investigation into the matter was conducted, during which the suspect tampered with evidence. The suspect was arrested for silent abusive call/electronic communication to 911 service and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.


Evading arrest — An officer responded on Aug. 26 to a report of a male suspect damaging property in the 1700 block of North Shannon Street. While en route to the location, the officer located the suspect driving his vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled. A report for evading arrest/detention was filed.


Theft — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 25 to a business in the 400 block of West Pecan Street. The reporting party stated that a suspect entered the building, took her purse and then left. The officers searched the area for the suspect to no avail. A report for theft less than $100 was generated.


Found property — An officer made contact on Aug. 25 with a male reporting party in reference to found property. It was reported that a cellphone had been found in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Town Center Street. A report for found property was filed.


Theft of services — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 25 to a disturbance at a business in 700 block of U.S. Highway 82. Upon arrival, they were informed by the manager that a suspect had taken dry cleaning from the business and not paid for it. A report for theft of services between $100-$750 was generated.


Theft — An officer responded on Aug. 25 to a female complainant in the 2200 block of North Hickory Street. She stated that hand tools were taken from her residence. A report for theft was filed.


Possession — Sherman Police and Sherman EMS responded on Aug. 25 to a medical call in the 1300 block of South Austin Avenue. An unresponsive female was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A report for possession of a controlled substance less than one ounce was generated.


Assault — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 25 to the 2300 block of Shannon Street in response to a welfare concern. The reporting party stated that she had been assaulted by a family member. Officers investigated, and a report for assault causing bodily injury to a family member was filed.


Fraud — Officers spoke with a female complainant in the 2000 block of Peggy’s Cove on Aug. 25. She reported that fraudulent accounts had been opened. A report for fraud possession of identifying information was completed.


Assault — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 25 to a disturbance in the 1900 block of Kathleen Court. A female victim stated that she had been assaulted by her husband. She had a mark on her arm and claimed that the assault had caused her pain. Her husband was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member.


Burglary — An officer responded on Aug. 25 to a male complainant in the 1800 block of Texoma Parkway. He stated that a suspect had stolen his cellphone from his room. A report for burglary of a habitation was generated.


Possession — An officer addressed a parking complaint on Aug. 25 in the 300 block of East College Street. While doing so, the officer observed an adult male sitting in a vehicle and sorting through a bag of marijuana. The suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana less than two ounces.


Assault — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 26 to the 800 block of East Scott Street in response to a disturbance. The victim reported being hit in the chin by a suspect. The suspect fled before the officers arrived. A report for assault causing bodily injury to a family member was filed.


Possession — Officers stopped a bicyclist on Aug. 26 in the 200 block of South Wanda Drive for not using a headlamp and failure to stop at a stop sign. The rider consented to a search of his person, and methamphetamine was found in his pocket. The rider was arrested for possession of a controlled substance from 4-200 grams.


Theft — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 26 to the 1400 block of South Walnut Street in response to a report of theft. Upon investigation, it was determined that a number of items had been taken from outside the residence. A report was taken, and the case is under investigation.


Burglary — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 26 to a business in the 5000 block of Texoma Parkway. Upon arrival, they were notified by the manager of a burglary. A report for burglary of a building and burglary of a coin operated machine was taken.


Credit/debit card abuse — An officer responded on Aug. 26 to a female complainant in the 900 block of South Willow Street. She stated that her debit card had been used fraudulently. A report for credit/debit card abuse was generated.


Found property — An officer responded on Aug. 26 to a report of found property in the 5600 block of Texoma Parkway. An investigation was conducted and a report for found property was taken.


Found property — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 27 to the 900 block of South Crockett Street in response to a report of found property. An investigation revealed that someone had abandoned a bicycle and some tools in the reporting party’s yard.


Possession — Dispatch received a call on Aug. 27 reporting drug activity in the 2900 block of Michelle Drive. An investigation revealed that a male suspect at the addess was the subject of a misdemeanor arrest warrant. While the suspect was being arrested, it was discovered that he was in possession of illegal narcotics. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 28 grams and for the outstanding warrant, which was for theft.


Theft — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 27 to the 900 block of South Gribble Street in response to a complaint of a suspicious person. Upon arriving, they located and spoke with the suspicious person. He claimed to have been the victim of a recent theft. A report for theft from $100-$750 was filed.


Possession — Officers were dispatched on Aug. 27 to the 900 block of East Houston Street in response to several 911 calls. Upon arrival, they found the front door of the house to be forced open. Officers made entry to ensure the safety of anyone possibly inside, but no person was located. Obvious signs of a fight or struggle were inside the house, and several items of contraband were in open view. The home was secured and a search warrant was executed. The investigation is ongoing.


Criminal trespass — Dispatch received a call on Aug. 27 to report a male suspect who was panhandling in the 1700 block of Texoma Parkway. The suspect was located in the parking lot of a business in the area. He had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for the business and was not allowed on the property. He was arrested for criminal trespass.
