Sherman Police


Walked on roadway — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 24 to a residence in the 700 block of East Cherry Street in reference to a homeowner saying a male was trying to break into her home. Upon the officer’s arrival, the suspect had already left. The male did not make entry into the home and caused no damage. The suspect was located a couple of blocks away in the 700 block of South Throckmorton Street trying to open a parked vehicle’s door. The suspect was observed walking in the middle of the street where a sidewalk was provided. The officer arrested the male for walking in a roadway where a sidewalk was provided. He was transported to the GCSO jail.


Burglary — An officer responded on Aug. 22 to a report of found property in the 1400 block of West Laurel Street. The found items were later found to have been taken from a vehicle burglary in the 200 block of North Tolbert Street. A report for burglary of a vehicle was completed and several items were returned to the owner.


Driving while intoxicated — An officer conducted a traffic stop on Aug. 22 in the 100 block of East Lamar Street. It was suspected that the driver was intoxicated. A DWI investigation revealed that to be the case, and the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.


Found property — During a pre-duty investigation of a patrol unit on Aug. 23 a small baggy with a green leafy residue was found. It was undetermined from whom the baggy originated. A report for found property was filed.


Theft — An officer made telephone contact on Aug. 23 with a reporting party in reference to a theft in the 3500 block of U.S. Highway 82. A report for theft was generated.


Burglary — An officer made telephone contact on Aug. 23 with a male complainant in regard to burglary of a vehicle. The male complainant stated his vehicle was burglarized between Aug. 22 and 23. A report was generated.


Possession of marijuana — Sherman Police Department dispatched an officer on Aug. 23 to the 1900 block of West Taylor Street in reference to narcotics being found in an apartment. Upon arrival, a home health nurse surrendered a baggy containing a green leafy substance and a small baggy that had a crystal-like residue in it. The green leafy substance smelled like marijuana. The crystal like substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. The disabled tenant of the apartment was not able to say who the narcotic belonged to. The narcotics were seized as found property. The investigation is on going.


Assault — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 23 to a disturbance in the 2500 block of North Travis Street. A female claimed she was assaulted by her adult son. A report was generated for assault causing bodily injury-family violence.


Burglary — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 23 to a residence in the 600 block of South Vaden Street in reference to a residential burglary. The victim said a suspect forced entry into his home while he was at work and stole some of his property. A report for burglary of a habitation was generated.


Assault — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 24 to the 500 block of South Montgomery in reference to an assault. The victim reported being followed by a vehicle as he was walking home. A male exited the vehicle and grabbed the victims arm which caused him pain. The victim did not know the suspect. A report was generated for assault causing bodily injury.


Burglary — An officer made contact on Aug. 24 with a male complainant in reference to burglary of a habitation. The male said that between Aug. 8 and 24 his home medical device was taken from his residence. A report was generated.


Burglary — An officer was dispatched on Aug. 24 to a vehicle burglary in the 1400 block of South Austin Street. A male entered a vehicle and stole a change purse and phone charger. A short time later, the male returned to the location and attempted to purchase a cigarette from the victim. The suspect had the change purse in his hand and the victim took it from him. The suspect left his small baggy of marijuana in the change purse. A report was generated for burglary of a vehicle.


Possession of marijuana — Sherman Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Aug. 25 for an equipment violation in the 300 block of North Cleveland Avenue. Upon further investigation, it was learned the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license. He was also in possession of marijuana at the time of the traffic stop. The driver was arrested for driving while license invalid with previous convictions/suspensions without financial responsibility and possession of marijuana under two ounces and was transported to Grayson County Jail.


Denison Police


Criminal trespass — Officers responded to a call of a burglary on Aug. 22 at a residence in the 1200 block of West Walker. The victim stated she was asleep in her bedroom and woke up and saw a man in the room. She told the suspect to leave and he refused, so the victim went outside. Officers located the suspect walking in the area and arrested him for criminal trespass of a habitation and criminal mischief. The suspect broke a window while entering the residence. The victim knows the suspect, but he didn’t have permission to enter the residence.


Arrests — Officers observed two people sleeping behind the Denison Public Library in the 300 block of West Gandy on Aug. 22. The pair were arrested for sleeping in public.


Burglary — A victim in the 1100 block of Davis Avenue said on Aug. 22 that an unknown suspect entered his residence by kicking open a door. The suspect attempted to steal some firearms, but all of them were accounted for.


Assault — Officers responded to a call on Aug. 24 of a disturbance in the 900 block of West Chestnut. The victim said she was asleep in bed and the suspect came into the bedroom and assaulted her by hitting her in the face and also throwing her into a wall. The suspect was arrested for assault causing bodily injury-family violence.


Assault — A victim in the 1100 block of West Bullock said on Aug. 24 that a male came to her door wanting her to sign some paperwork on a vehicle. He then kissed her on the neck and tried to put his hands in her pants and tried to push her into the house. The case has been forwarded to municipal court.
