A night shift clerk was killed Friday morning following a robbery at a Sherman hotel.
At about 6 a.m. Friday, Sherman Police responded to the Quality Suites at 2900 N. U.S. Highway 75 on a call of an unresponsive man at the front desk. The 32-year-old Denison man was transported to Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police confirmed the identity of the man as Brandon Hubert.
Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton said Hubert was killed during what appeared to be a robbery, though police have not released further details on how he died. Crime scene tape was placed around the front entrance of the hotel, and several officers and police vehicles were at the scene throughout the morning. Hampton said the hotel was closed down, and police were working to identify all the hotel's guests.
Police have not said what was taken from the hotel.
“That’s one of the things they’re trying to determine, to figure out — exactly what, if anything, was taken from the business back here,” Hampton said.
Texas Rangers are assisting Sherman Police in the investigation.
Hampton said police are working on getting and releasing video and any kind of images that could help identify a suspect. Police ask that if anyone has information about the crime they should contact the department at 903-892-7290.
“There may be people out there who have information about this crime, and if they do, they need to contact the Sherman Police Department,” Hampton said.
