An employee of a Sherman store was hit by a vehicle when confronting a suspect that fled with stolen merchandise Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a robbery call from CJ Beauty Supply near the intersection of Texoma Parkway and Grand Avenue. Police spoke with a store employee who reported that a female suspect took items and exited without paying. Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the items included shirts and hair products and were valued at approximately $200.

As the woman left the store, an employee went outside to confront the suspect. The woman entered a silver or gray passenger car with a male driver and a male passenger inside.

“He was trying to take a picture of a license plate when the car went forward, and it ended up hitting him in the leg and drove off,” Hampton said.

The employee was not seriously injured, but Hampton noted the car’s bumper hit the man on his lower leg. The suspect fled the scene, and police filed a report for robbery.
