A man was sent to the hospital after his vehicle hydroplaned and veered off the roadway into a ditch Monday afternoon outside Sherman.
At about 4:10 p.m., emergency responders were called to a rollover wreck on eastbound U.S. Highway 82 between Choctaw Creek and Craft Road, east of Sherman. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were called to investigate, and a trooper on scene said the wreck occurred about 30 minutes before authorities were notified.
The red Dodge pickup was traveling eastbound through a bout of heavy rain, and the trooper said the vehicle appeared to have hydroplaned off the roadway. The vehicle traveled several feet through tall grass and rolled into a ditch. The pickup came to a stop upside down.
Bystanders saw the vehicle about 30 minutes later and stopped. Bells Fire Department and DPS responded. The trooper said the man, who is in his early 80s, was alert and his injuries did not appear life threatening. He was transported to the hospital.
