The Sherman Independent School District’s board of trustees will hold a special meeting Monday night and consider whether to adopt an official tax rate of $1.44 for the 2017 tax year.

Under the proposed tax rate, which would apply to every $100 of property value, $1.17 would be allocated for maintenance and operations and 27 cents would be for interest and sinking, or debt service. If approved, the I&S rate would remain the same of that applied in 2016. In July, the Grayson Central Appraisal District announced its certified value of properties within the district at $4.05 billion.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Sherman ISD administration building, located at 2701 Loy Lake Road. For additional information, call 903-891-6400 or visit
