Grayson County Commissioners decided to go out for bids Tuesday to replace the roof on the Grayson County Justice Center. The building at 200 South Crockett, houses five courts, the county jail and sheriff’s office, as well as the district clerk and district attorney’s office.

County Judge Bill Magers said, to his knowledge, the roof that is on the building now is the original one put on the building back in the late 1980s when it was built. Bids for the project must be submitted by 10 a.m. on Aug. 16 to be considered for the job. Commissioners approved the bidding process for a new roof on Hangar 501 at North Texas Regional Airport — Perrin Field.

Commissioners also approved a request by Atmos Energy to approve road bores at Willy Vester Road, Ballard Road, Lincoln Park Road and Kepler Road for replacement of an existing natural gas line.

County leaders also approved the preliminary plat of Blackthorn Meadow and the renewal of the annual contract with Contech for culverts. Also, the court approved an interlocal agreement with Howe Independent School District for work on the district’s parking lot and approved a request to allow Magers to sign a request for property right of entry so that BGE, Inc. can gather topographic and environmental survey data for the Texas Department of Transportation along FM 121.

Commissioners also approved an amendment to the county’s contract with Securus Master Service.
