Texoma Community Center is hosting a seminar Aug. 4 that will feature its new supportive employment and employment assistance programs for fellow community providers.


The seminar, which will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held at 510 South Mirick in Denison and an open house will be held from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 3 at the same location. All interested persons are invited to attend both events.


This will be an opportunity to see employment services for those individuals who are on Social Security Disability. The new program’s goal is to train and enable individuals with disabilities to become more independent and successful within the community. The three featured speakers will be Texas Workforce Solutions Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program Specialist Sara Kendall, Health and Human Services Commission Program Specialist Nehtra Davis and HHSC Employment Recruitment Coordinator Monty Chamberlain.


The program topics will be benefits and work incentives “Essential Supports for Employment Success,” the Health and Human Services Commission “Money follows the person,” employment recruitment coordinator project, web-based training course offerings, billing under employee assistance and supported employment, and building strong partnerships “Relationships between Vocational Rehabilitation and Waivers.”
