Theft — A male victim stated on July 22 that he parked his vehicle, with the engine running, in the parking lot of a store located in the 1000 block of South Austin. He then entered the store, but when he exited the store, a male suspect was observed inside the 2010 Nissan SUV. A friend of the owner attempted to enter the vehicle on the passenger’s side. The suspect backed the vehicle up, which caused minor injuries to the arm of the owner’s friend. The suspect then left northbound on Austin Avenue.
Criminal trespass — Officers responded on July 22 to the report of a suspicious person inside a store in the 800 block of West Crawford Street. The suspect was arrested for criminal trespass.
Public intoxication — Dispatch received a call on July 23 reporting suspicious behavior on the part of two males in the 600 block of South Mirick. Officers responded and arrested the two suspects for public intoxication.
Theft — A man reported on July 23 that someone stole a chainsaw from a shed in his backyard in the 500 block of East Sears. Officers are following leads in the case.
Theft — A man stated on July 23 that a suspect stole three bags of his property that he left outside a nightclub in the 600 block of West Parnell. Leads are being followed in the investigation.
Criminal mischief — A woman reported on July 23 that a suspect brought her children home and then wanted their daughter back. She refused to return the daughter because the suspect was intoxicated. The suspect allegedly damaged a window and door of the residence while trying to kick open the door. The investigation will continue.
Fraud — An officer responded on July 24 to a male complainant in the 2100 block of Dove Lane. He stated that a suspect fraudulently used a check from his account. Leads are being followed in the case.
Theft — A male victim reported on July 24 that a suspect entered his unlocked vehicle and stole several tools. The investigation is ongoing.
Driving while intoxicated — An officer observed on July 24 that a brick mailbox had been destroyed and that a vehicle was parked a short distance away. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Burglary — An officer responded on July 24 to complainants in the 2900 block of Rocky Lane. They stated that someone entered their residence through a door and stole electronic items, cash and jewelry. Leads are being followed in the case.
Possession — Officers responded on July 24 to a call reporting suspicious activity in the 800 block of West Laurel Street. The caller reported that a male suspect was attempting to burglarize homes and vehicles. The suspect was located and consented to a search of his person, which revealed the possession of a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue. The pipe tested positive for methamphetamine, and the suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance less than one gram.
Driving while license invalid — An officer observed on July 24 a vehicle traveling eastbound in the 1500 block of Lamar Street. The vehicle was speeding, failing to maintain a single lane, and nearly colliding with other vehicles. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended Texas ID card. He was arrested for driving while license was invalid.
Theft — A victim contacted dispatch on July 24 in reference to items being stolen from his vehicle while it was in Sherman. The alleged incident happened three to four weeks earlier. A report for theft from $750-$2,500 was completed.
Theft — An officer responded on July 24 to a female complainant in the 1500 block of Montgomery Street. She stated that she had sent money via Western Union in an attempt to rent a residence. She added that she later learned that the residence was not for rent and that she had been scammed. A report for theft was generated.
Assault — Officers were dispatched on July 24 to the 200 block of South Sam Rayburn Freeway in reference to an assault. They spoke with the victim who reported that her husband had struck her in the face with his fist. A report for assault family violence was filed.
Assault — An officer responded on July 24 to a female complainant in the 900 block of West Wells Avenue. She stated that a suspect had assaulted her, causing pain and had then fled. A report for assault family member household member with previous convictions was filed.
Public intoxication — Dispatch received a call on July 24 reporting an intoxicated male in the 4000 block of North U.S. Highway 75. Officers located the suspect, who was asleep in his vehicle, which was not running. The driver admitted he had been drinking and added that he did not feel safe driving or walking home. He was then arrested for public intoxication.
Assault — An officer was dispatched on July 24 to the 1800 block of West Washington Street in reference to an assault. The victim had clearly been assaulted but was not cooperative in the investigation. A report was taken for assault by contact.
