A Dodd City man is in critical condition after he was shot in the head Friday night during a possible home invasion.
Fannin County Sheriff Mark Johnson said deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 2200 block of State Highway 56 at approximately 10:41 p.m., where they found Johnnie Jones with a gunshot wound to the head. Johnson said he believed the home was shared by Jones and a woman described as either his wife or girlfriend.
“They were in the house and someone just came in and shot him in the head,” Johnson said. “He’s not in good shape.”
Jones was flown by air ambulance to a hospital where Johnson said he remains in critical condition. The Fannin County Sheriff said investigators have identified a person of interest in connection with the shooting, though he declined to provide the individual’s name.
Johnson said Jones’ partner is cooperating with officials and that the investigation is ongoing.
